PETGEM

Description:

It consists in several software-based technologies used to explore, characterize, and monitor the subsurface. They use geophysical data and produce accurate maps of complex subsurface structures.

Type of asset:

Service

Category:

Computer Applications in Science & Engineering

Problem:

Democratization of exascale HPC for georesources exploration in a high-tech society

Solution:

The technologies are developed for very economically intensive businesses, such as hydrocarbon exploration. These technologies are nowadays becoming more affordable due to the increase in computing capacity of current computer clusters and can start to be applied to less intensive fields such as geothermal exploration, geologic carbon storage, or groundwater reservoirs exploration.

Aplication areas:

Geothermal energy, oil, geological carbon storage, groundwater reservoirs

Novelty:

We take full advantage of the best imaging strategies and exascale HPC algorithms for the subsurface exploration, thus mitigating future risks related to exploitation

Protection:

Industrial secret/open source, depending on application.

Target market:

Mostly industrial partners and R&D centers. Our goal is to bring our products closer to real environments.

Keywords:

Geo-resources, subsurface exploration
