Last Tuesday, September 19th, took place the General Assembly of the X4HPC Network, with the assistance of researchers from the research groups and member institutions of the network, as well as representatives from the technology transfer offices of the 8 member institutions.

The meeting served to review all the activity of the R+ D+I Network for Supercomputing in Catalonia. As a result of the activities carried out in the network’s first year of existence, it is foreseen:

  • To be funding for over 7 patentability studies (3 from VHIR, 1 from IRB, 1 from BSC, 1 from UAB, and 1 from UB) in the coming months, as well as more than 5 market studies and business plans (2 from IRB-BSC and 3 from CIMNE) (results from the initial open calls for intellectual property and valorization).
  • To participate in a total of 14 events and conferences by the end of the year. X4HPC will have presence in relevant technology events and fairs such as BIOSpain, AI & Big Data Congress, Smart City Expo World Congress, Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, and Tech Spirit Barcelona start-ups Fair.
  • The network will expand from 23 to 35 research groups, with a total of 12 new groups joining this supercomputing catalan reference network, that aims to accelerate the tech transfer of research results to the market within the catalan supercomputing ecosystem. Among the new groups 4 are from BSC, 6 from VHIR, and 2 from CIMNE, all of which work with large amounts of data and use HPC tools in their research.
